Data Point: Unexpected Hospitality Growth Data Emerges
The Division of Hotels and Restaurants (H&R) licenses, inspects and regulates public lodging and food service establishments in Florida, which makes it a key observer of trends in the hospitality industry. In its annual Hotels and Restaurants Advisory Council meeting on January 26th, the Division shared some interesting statistics from its vantage point as the regulator of Florida’s hospitality sector.
The Division noted continued growth in public food service, non-transient apartments, hotels/motels and vacation rentals licensing accounts despite the pandemic.
Public Food Establishment Licenses – 1.4 percent growth at time of report with a projected growth of 3
percent by the end of the FY
Public Lodging Licenses:
Apartments – 1% growth at time of report with a projected growth of 2% by the end of the FY
Hotels/Motels – 1% growth at time of report with a projected growth of 2% by the end of the FY
Vacation Rentals – 8% growth at the time of the report with a projected growth of 15% by the end of the FY
